What do I need to know to install a Text Inserter?

You should think of the Text Inserter like this: It is a Pole Display or a Journal Printer which just happens to print on CCTV Video.

It is simple to add Text Insertion to almost any POS system that has a serial port to support either a Pole Display or Journal Printer. POS system developers are now adding dedicated output for Text Inserters which work even better. They go by such names as "Serial Security Interface", "Video Interface", "Camera Interface" or similar sounding names.

We have an extensive list of POS systems and Cash Registers where our Text Inserter has been field proven.
If you do not see your POS system, please call or email for assistance. Please be ready with the Cash Register or POS name and version number. Equally important is the brand and model of the pole display used or which can be supported by the cash register or POS system. If you are using a printer please specify the brand and model.

In addition we even support electronic scales.

Before you order, please double check your interface type.

Pole displays come in both serial and parallel. Please check to see if your is display is connected to a COM port (serial DB9 male) or an LPT1 parallel port (usually DB25 female) on the Point of Sale system.

Printers come in both serial and parallel. Serial printers usually have a DB25 female connector. Parallel printers usually have a 36 pin Centronics connector.
